Matlock Illuminations

To celebrate my Dad’s 60th birthday (albeit belated), we invited the family to a cosy barn house near the Peak District, close to Carsington Waters and Matlock Bath.

As if by chance, Mum happened to find that the penultimate evening of the apparently famous Matlock Illuminations was being held for its 121st year this weekend. So we went along to see what it was all about. And to make it even more spectacular, we managed to bump into close friends Spud & Jess for a chat and some churros before the fireworks finale.

I tried my best to capture some of the very bright illuminations (all decorated rowing boats!) despite very little camera equipment.

You can read more about the famous illuminations here.
